Week 1

Touched down in Los Angeles Airport at 9am Christmas eve and struggled to find our connecting flight due to the poorly directed flight gate. Managed to get to Denver on time to be met by Bill and Susan Pedrick (probably looked silly in a t-shirt). They took us on our first grocery store excursion, and afterwards took us to eat out at "Chilli's", where we tried our luck at tipping. Don't know how we managed to leave the groceries still in the Pedrick's car; must have been tired. Luckily the neighbours kindly dropped them off the next morning (Christmas). Mum and Dad got up earlier than me (I stayed asleep until 11). We all went for a walk, and were gobsmacked to see (about 100m up the road) a cricket pitch and nets!? Had a coffee at Starbucks and we had a tall drink each (we asked for the smallest they had). We had dinner that night with our neighbours who gave us a freshly killed pheasant (we had to be careful of the pellets). Boxing day we finally managed to get the Internet up and running, obtain a mobile and tomorrow hopefully get a car. Weather has been spectacular with clear skies. School's coming up and from what we've heard the school is very creative and self-motivated.                                                                                                                                 

PS: My first sight of squirrels scurrying all over the place was funny and keeps me entertained. I don't know what mum will do but i think she'll have plenty of time to chat on Skype or msn.
